Money where my mouth is.
A few posts back I suggested how much better it would be if we remembered September 11th by giving back to our communities. Ever since the EYOC has been gone, I’ve toyed with the idea of giving over some time to the local food pantry. It’s a bit nostalgic in a way and in another it would honor the memory of the EYOC.
I donated cash to the food pantry (as well as some other charities) but, it didn’t seem like enough and when I sent off the last donation to them recently, I checked off the box saying I would be willing to volunteer. I got a call from them a week back and just hadn’t gotten around to returning the call but, keeping the thought in mind of how volunteerism is a good way to mark 9/11, I called today.
I start tomorrow.
